The Sunday side secured their first win of the 2018 season beating Bardwell by 5 wickets off the final ball of the game.
Batting first Bardwell scored 175 from their 40 overs, with Paul Spurling being the pick of the bowlers who, on his return to the club, claimed excellent figures of 9.4-1-53-5. Rob Webb also picked up his customary 2 wickets, although could have been 3 if he attended Winter nets for some catching practice. For Bardwell the top scores were F Allum with 51, who was supported by J Wade 42, R Wakeman 25 & T Lampshire 23.
Chasing 176, Brockley started slowing scoring 51 off the first 20 overs thanks to accurate bowling from Grimwood and Panting. Noah Boreham and James Laflin upped the scoring rate to put Brockley at 131-4 off 34 overs. With 48 runs needed from the final 6, McCaffrey & Fenner seemed to forget how to hit boundaries and insisted on running their way to victory, Alex McCaffrey reaching his century after smashing Brockley first teamer James Firth for two huge sixes, before falling to the very next ball leaving Steve Fenner to hit the final ball of the game for 4 to seal 20 points for the Sunday badgers.
A special thank you to Glenn Elsey, who umpired all 40 overs of Brockleys innings.
