Brockley vs Kesgrave
By Alex McCaffrey
A struggle in the sun with 10 players
As Arnold Sykes, Jack Fisher and Gary Jeffries headed towards the golf course it was the 10 men of Brockley, sponsored by A14 Tyres, visiting a high flying Kesgrave side on a belting hot day in June. Batting first, Brockley posted 200, Huffer top scoring with 70 and well supported by Jones 35 and Webb 32. Dave Bowler came in at the end to whack the ball around the park as Brockley collected full batting points, who would have thought it!
Unfortunately, the limp bowling attack of McCaffrey and Huffer could only help the Kesgrave openers on their merry way to 201 at a rapid rate. A highlight did (eventually) arrive with Glenn Elsey taking a superb caught and bowled sending Colver on his way for 61. Sam Hurst also picked up a wicket to ensure the Badgers didn't go empty handed in the field. Oliver finished the game with a 4 to bring his 100 in style, Kesgrave winning by 8 wickets
A disappointing day but still happy to pick up 6 points which could come valuable come the end of the season.
Brockley 200, Huffer 70, Patel 3-45
Kesgrave 201-2, Olivier 109*, Hurst 1-14
Kesgrave win by 8 wickets
